This African Congo Gorilla Safari Trip Tour starts and ends in Kigali Rwanda and includes Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Congo’s Virunga National Park which is part of the greater Virunga Massif with 480 Mountain gorillas more than a half of their world population.

You land at the Kigali International Airport – the main gateway to Rwanda where you will meet the safari guide to usher you in the land of a thousand hills and embark on the transfer to Congo’s Virunga National Park 184km about 3 ½ – 4 hours drive exploring the amazing scenery of Rwandan hill sides.
You secure the Congo Visa at Goma and change vehicles connecting to the lodge in Virunga for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

After breakfast at Bukima Tented Camp, you gather at the starting point for the Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Virunga National Park.
After briefing by the park rangers, you set off to the jungle perched on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes traversing the rugged landscapes in search of the Mountain Gorillas that are critically endangered world over.
The trek may last about three (3) hours after which you come across the gentle giants thriving in their natural habitats.
The actual viewing is as well limited to one hour for conservation purposes like in other Mountain Gorilla Trekking destinations presenting impressive picturesque opportunities and lasting moments with these long lost cousins. Retire from the activity and connect back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight

After a relaxed breakfast at Bukima Tented Camp, you connect to the lush Mikeno Lodge to explore one of the top notch wilderness lodges in Congo for relaxation experience.
You allocate two (2) hours to a nature / community walk with a local guide gaining views of the Caves crossed by a river, the local beer brewing among the local people and a tour of the coffee plantations.
You spend the rest of the day at leisure enjoying the tranquillity of Mikeno Lodge surrounded by the World’s second largest rain forest.

Gather at Kibati Patrol Post which is one hour transfer from Mikeno Lodge towards Rutshuru driving though fields of lava.
The hike to Nyiragongo Volcano is truly beyond the ordinary considering the Mountain history and the surrounding physical landscape.
You enjoy the views of the entire Virunga Landscape which feature a count of eight Volcanic Mountains that straddle from Uganda through Rwanda to Democratic Republic of Congo.
The hike to Nyiragongo Volcano (3,470m) takes about 4 – 6 hours depending on the speed of the trekkers is not so strenuous thus does not require Mountain Climbing gear.
The summit is marked by the world’s largest and most violent lava lake similar to that of Mordor in the fictional middle earth featured in the movie Fellowship of the Ring.
The accommodation is presented at the summit in the Mountain shelter before viewing the red glow of the lava lake at night which is one of the fascinating scenic views in the world.

You wake up early to catch up with a magical sun rise at about 6’oclock along with great swirling masses of clouds in the valleys below not forgetting the overlooking Karisimbi and Bisoke Volcano.
You settle for a thrilling breakfast after which you embark on the descent from the Mountain. You enjoy the views of lush and unique flora and volcanic soils before getting at the starting point and then drive back to Mikeno lodge for relaxation and overnight

Following a relaxed breakfast at Mikeno Lodge, you set off for the transfer back to Kigali to mark the end of the tour. You can catch up with an evening flight if you wish.
