The 5 days Mountain Elgon Trekking tour is one of the short tours organized to enable hikers on Uganda tours to explore the stunning peaks of Mountain Elgon National Park and Sipi Falls located in eastern Uganda.
The tour offers you the opportunity to unwind in and explore the stunning Mountain Elgon and the three-water falls that make up wonderful Sipi waterfalls, take cultural visit around the Bagisu people who are famous farmers mainly producing best Arabic Coffee in the whole world.
The short 5 days tour will take you through Mabira Forest which is the beautiful forest with over 300 species of birds as well as endangered species of butterfly, monkeys, plants and trees, cross the Nile to Jinja town dubbed the adventure city of Uganda, to the farmed land along Iganga-Mbale route.
The tour then takes you to enjoy a soothing atmosphere of the cool weather at Mountain Elgon, the spectacular views of the Mt Elgon from up and the Karamoja plains disappearing from below.
Day 1: Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and Transfer to Kampala.
Day 2 : Transfer to Mountain Elgon National Park & En-route stopover at Jinja town, Evening Cultural encounter
Day 3: Hike from Budadiri to Mude Camp.
Day 4: Hiking from Mude Camp to the Wagagai Peak (4321m).
Day 5: Descend from Mude Camp to Piswa Patrol Hut and Transfer to Kampala
On arrival to Entebbe international Airport, you will be welcomed by a representative of Prime Safaris and Tours Ltd who will transfer you to your hotel in Kampala.
Depending on the time of arrival, our driver guide will take you on a city tour for a marvelous welcome with the capital City tour.
Visit some interesting Religious sites and cultural sites such as the Kasubi Tombs, Kabaka’s place, Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, Bahai Temple ,the Uganda Museum and of course the African Craft Village. After the city tour return back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

After a cup of Coffee from your Kampala place of stay, driver guide will pick you up and embark on transfer to Mount Elgon situated on the eastern direction from Kampala 272kms about 4-5hours drive.
The drive journey to Mountain Elgon will take you through small townships of Mukono were you can also find Ssezibwa falls one of the famous Buganda Heritage Sites where many natives flock for blessings, wealth, and fortunes, Mabira Forest which is the beautiful forest with over 300 species of birds as well as numerous and some endangered species of butterfly, monkeys, plants and trees, to the Farmed lands of Lugazi with tea and sugarcane plantations ,cross the Nile to Jinja town dubbed the adventure city of Uganda.
You will make short stopover at Jinja in place where Nalubalaale Hydroelectric Power Station crosses the white water Nile and here you will enjoy the views and sights of the Nile, the green lush vegetation on the banks of the Nile, sights of the Jinja town.
Thereafter continue with the drive to Mbale town through Iganga and Busembatia towns. Arrive in Mbale town for Lunch and continue to Sipi falls area of Mountain Elgon.
On arrival to Sipi falls, you will drive to your lodge to check-in and spend one hour relaxing before driving to the nearby Bagisu community for marvelous cultural encounter.
The encounter comes with the pride of meeting the Sipi Widows’ Group that can take you on guided walk passing through the plantations of coffee as they illustrate how coffee is planted, picked, grinded and finally washed making it ready for sell.
Meet the Bugisu farmers are famous for producing the best washed Arabica in Uganda and Kenya. Thereafter retreat back to your lodge for dinner and Over Night.

After your early morning breakfast, you will drive to Budadiri from where you will start hiking. You will use the Sasa trail which is the shortest but toughest route to the peaks, traversing the community land and allowing you to explore BaMasaba farming settlements and culture.
The trail takes you through the toughest climb of over 1,600m above sea level before crossing the park’s largest area of bamboo forest and passing Jackson’s Pool on the way to Wagagai Peak. You will camp at Mude camp.
After your early morning breakfast, you will continue with your hike from Mude camp to Wagagai which is 4321 m high.
The hike to the peak will take you around 4-5 hours and after hiking for those hours, you will reach to the peak of mountain Elgon.
While at the top, you will enjoy the magnificent views of Uganda and Kenya side, take photos for memories and later you will descend back to Mude Camp for dinner and Camping.
After an early morning breakfast, descend from Mude Cave Camp through beautiful columns of the most rare and endemic plant species like the giant Lobelia Elgonensis.
Visit the hot springs and Suam Gorge before descending to the Hunters Cave Camp at 3850 meters. Thereafter proceed with the descend to Piswa Patrol Hut.
Upon arrival at Piswa, retire back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. After lunch, embark on Transfer journey back to Kampala.
The drive journey of about 4-5hours will take you through Mbale town, a charming town full of rich heritage and fascinating culture.
With some beautiful view points on our way, you will reach Jinja town marvel at the splendid river Nile and advance direct to Kampala or Entebbe for your scheduled flight back home.
