The Uganda Safari National Parks are the icon habitats for the 1057 species of birds that are found in Uganda making the birding safaris in Uganda beyond the ordinary.
Amazingly, this bird count constitutes 50% of African bird species and 11% of the global bird species. Before their gazettion, these Uganda Safari parks were dwelling places for some of the tribal groups in the country which up to now have strong attachment to some of the places inside the National Parks which they considered sacred such as Bakonjo with the Rwenzori Mountains, Batwa with the forests of Mgahinga and Bwindi, the Bahima with the savannah stretches of Lake Mburo and Indigenous Karimojong with Kidepo.
